What does the Make Life Safer (Blue) Tag Mean?
Improved Fire Safety for Your Furniture and Your Home
Participating manufacturers in the Make Life Safer hangtag program voluntarily submit samples of their furniture components for testing to the national furniture flammability standard and to additional requirements.
Testing is conducted at independent accredited laboratories.
The Make Life Safer Program helps manufacturers to ensure that their furniture meets the highest standard for ignition resistance to smoldering fire sources. Smoldering fires are the most common and deadliest type of home fire. Selecting furniture with the Make Life Safer tag is a critical part of your family’s fire safety plan. The program is overseen by UFAC, a not-for-profit organization that developed an original furniture flammability testing program.
The Make Life Safer Plus Program includes flammability testing and expands independent testing and other requirements to test samples for toxic flame retardants.
